Mumbai: Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Natalie Germanos highlighted Gujarat Giants’ strong bowling performance, stating:”After posting a big total, Gujarat Giants would have felt confident, but they also had the bitter memory of scoring 200 against RCB and still losing. Given that history, they could have approached their bowling tentatively, but instead, they remained aggressive. Ashleigh Gardner managed her bowling changes brilliantly. She started with seamers, recognizing that the new ball was offering movement, and only introduced spinners later, once conditions were more suitable. Gujarat’s spinners have been consistent throughout the tournament, and today, they adapted to the situation much better than UP Warriorz.”
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Mithali Raj analyzed UP Warriorz’s performance, stating: “When you’re chasing 187 runs, there’s always significant pressure, and today, they introduced a new batter, Georgia Voll. They retained the same opening pair—Grace Harris and Kiran Navgire—but losing Kiran in the first over, followed by Georgia, meant two crucial wickets fell early, putting immense pressure on the incoming batters. Grace Harris, too, struggled to find momentum, unable to get those early boundaries, which added to the pressure. When you’re chasing a big total like 187, a strong powerplay is essential to build a solid foundation. However, UP Warriorz lost four wickets in the powerplay, and their middle order, which has been inconsistent throughout the tournament, failed to step up once again. Losing wickets in both the powerplay and middle overs meant they never built any partnerships. After Grace Harris, who managed around 20 runs, the next best scorer at one stage was Chinelle Henry, while others were in single digits. You can’t expect to chase 187 when no batter takes responsibility and puts up a meaningful score. It was a good batting wicket, and while Gujarat Giants performed well, UP Warriorz needed to approach their innings differently.”
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Natalie Germanos praised Gujarat Giants’ dominant performance, stating:”I think Gujarat Giants approached the game far better than UP Warriorz, both technically and tactically. They were unfortunate to lose the toss, but in the end, it didn’t matter. That’s a positive sign for this venue, suggesting that conditions might become more balanced moving forward. Gujarat Giants got their team selection right and executed their tactics efficiently. They made very few mistakes, whereas UP Warriorz had lapses in the field and struggled with shot selection while batting. Overall, Gujarat Giants were simply the better side in every aspect of the game.”
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Mithali Raj critiqued UP Warriorz’s poor batting form, stating: “Kiran Navgire clearly didn’t anticipate the ball to be slower compared to other venues. She offered no real shot, simply hanging her bat out. Georgia Voll, playing her first game and coming in after the early dismissal of an opener, completely misjudged the line. Credit must go to Deandra Dottin for that wicket—it was a superb delivery to dismiss Georgia. Beyond that, some of the shot selections were poor. Vrinda Dinesh and Grace Harris, for instance, played reckless shots. If you take a lesson from Beth Mooney’s innings, on a true batting wicket, you don’t need to play across the line or attempt extravagant shots. Mooney scored all her boundaries in front of the stumps and rarely mistimed anything. In contrast, Vrinda and Grace played risky shots just a few balls into their innings, which cost them dearly.”
